About Jakarta Montessori School
Growing with Purpose Since 1986
Founded on 5 October 1986, Jakarta Montessori School is one of Indonesia's pioneering Montessori schools. We have remained committed to authentic Montessori principles while continuously evolving to meet the needs of today's learners.
Our mission is to support each student’s physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and moral development, empowering them to become confident, compassionate, and capable individuals who contribute positively to the world around them.
Jakarta Montessori School is recognised as a centre of excellence for Montessori education in Indonesia. We are fully accredited by the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board (MEAB), United Kingdom, and hold national accreditation from Badan kreditasi Nasional (BAN) Indonesia. As an SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama), Jakarta Montessori School works closely with The Montessori Foundation, USA, to ensure the authentic implementation of Montessori philosophy and best practices throughout the school. Through ongoing collaboration, professional development, and quality assurance processes, we remain committed to delivering a high-quality Montessori education that is faithful to Dr. Montessori’s vision while meeting the needs of today’s learners. All lead teachers hold internationally recognised Montessori qualifications and are committed to continuous professional growth.
Our Montessori programme places the student at the centre of the learning process. Within a carefully prepared environment and under the guidance of highly qualified teachers, students develop independence, self-discipline, self-confidence, and a genuine love of learning. They are encouraged to explore their interests, think critically, solve problems creatively, and take responsibility for their own learning. As an international community, Jakarta Montessori School brings together students from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering mutual respect, global awareness, and an appreciation for different perspectives.
Today, Jakarta Montessori School offers programmes for:
- Infants and Toddlers 3 months to 3 years
- Early Childhood (3 to 6 years),
- Lower Primary (6 to 9 years),
- Upper Primary (9 to 12 years),
- Secondary (12 to 16 years)
- The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for Years 11 & 12 (ages 16 to 18).
At Jakarta Montessori School, we believe education extends beyond academic achievement. We strive to cultivate lifelong learners, peacemakers, creative thinkers, global citizens, and stewards of the Earth. Through meaningful experiences and authentic relationships, students develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Jakarta Montessori School welcomes students of all backgrounds and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, nationality, religion, or belief. We are proud of our vibrant learning community and warmly invite you to visit our campus and discover the Montessori difference for yourself.
